About the Artist

Susan has been sewing since she was born -- ok maybe since she was 6 years old. She has always been an artist and identifies with the tactile satisfaction of creating beautiful things with textiles.

Quilting is a process much like painting with fabric. The spiral is an ancient symbol representing the journey of life as it unfolds.

Twining is the art of interweaving fabric strands on a loom. Each piece is unique.

Pillows aren't just a place to lay your head. They are also expressive, meaningful, decorative and fun.

Art & Function

Twining is an ancient technique, possibly 25,000 years old, used in basket-making and weaving world-wide.  Over a century ago twining began to be used to weave rugs.  Twined rugs are made on upright frames, and resemble braided rugs.

Quilting can be traced back as far as ancient Egypt.  Evidence of quilt work was found in Asia in late BC and early AD years.  Quilting became evident in Europe during the 12th century when it was discovered that the Crusaders wore quilted garments under their armor for comfort, warmth and protection.
