Seaweed, goldenrod, scallop shells, beach stone, yellow shell
Eastham, MA
2020

On Saturday Mark, Dylan (our son), Cricket (our dog), and I went to Cape Cod to visit Connor Flynn (our grandson, Dylan’s nephew). By the time we arrived at noon Connor had been deployed to a wildfire in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. We were sorry to have missed him but consoled ourselves with trips to the beach and the woods. The weather was September superlative, clear and windy with big waves and empty beaches. I collected materials for this mandala from Nauset Light Beach, Orleans (seaweed and the beach stone), the Salt Water Pond near rt. 6, Wellfleet (goldenrod), and Duck Harbor, Wellfleet (scallop and yellow shells) and created this mandala on the first day of autumn.
